Antonio Conte takes a dig at Jose Mourinho, says he is just ‘jealous’:

The Premier League fixture schedule continues to divide opinions and managers with some suggesting that there is some conspiracy and malice behind it. Arsene Wenger has spent a good number of time in the past few days lamenting the uneven scheduling and in the same vein, Mourinho also suggested the schedule was done to favour certain clubs and create problem for others.

Sensing that the sub is his, Antonio Conte has not wasted time in replying:

“I can reply that I didn’t do the fixtures,” said the former Juventus boss. “The advantage is one more day of rest over Tottenham [Chelsea beat Stoke on Saturday, Spurs won at Watford on Sunday].”
“During a season, different situations can happen when you can have advantage – but for sure not this.”

“I think they are angry for our position, not for the fixture.” he concluded.

It is uncertain if this is the beginning of what might go down as a battle of words between Antonio Conte and a typically unrelenting Mourinho, but Conte’s clap-back will definitely hurt Mourinho. While the former’s club seem destined to the top spot, the former’s is doing a mannequin challenge in sixth position – irrespective of result.
