| VICTOR MOSES |
Some Nigerian players made 2016 their own like Solomon Dalung and a red beret. Like it is with every year, some players will look back with a smile in what has been an unforgettable year, while others can’t wait for it to end. Here are three Nigerian footballers who will look back at 2016 with a smile.
Victor Moses
For Victor Moses, Santa is a man in well tailored suits, with eyes of a cat and a knack for reminding us how much we miss Michael Jackson on stage. He who grants your wishes is Santa. On every count, Antonio Conte is Victor Moses’ Santa.
Victor Moses, who has moved in and out of Chelsea more than the club’s deliveryman, has not only remained in the team this season but is one of the first names in the starting eleven.
Going forward looks brighter for Victor Moses more than ever and he finally has a coach who can rip through his inconsistent behaviors on the pitch and ultimately transform him into a world class player.
Alex Iwobi
Alex Iwobi started 2016 like MFM’s prayer sessions which earned him a spot as one of the key players for Arsenal this year. Alex Iwobi had a stellar year for both club and country, which also got him recognition as one of the best young talents in the game.
The end of the year may have tailed off a bit and the performance not as exhilarating as before but Iwobi is young and still with a lot to learn.
Iwobi will look at 2016 with many positives as well as many great moments, not least that performance at Camp Now.
Wilfred Ndidi
No point reliving that horrible experience in Zambia for Wilfred Ndidi where he was almost mistaken for a traffic warden. To be fair, Ndidi was a fish out of the water against Zambia as he occupied the right back position.
In his central midfield position at Genk, Wilfred Ndidi is the next thing after the wall of Gilbratar, and his performance prompted Leicester City to splash £15m on him.
Ndidi hasn’t made his mark yet for the Super Eagles but his stock is on the rise and Leicester could be a perfect place to harness his talents.
